On Successful and failure artists

I am talking about the successful artists before their death....
I am very much curious to know the state of mind of the artist after he has got success in his work. I think once he achieved the success on canvases, simultaneously he can become a successfully failure person in his mind. I will explain this theory in more detail...

Whoever enters the world of art as a student with a burning desire and a lot of dreams usually aim to become like the great masters. This is usually every art student's dream.( I am talking about serious students who are dreamers). They will struggle throughout their life to fulfill this desire. In those struggles some fortunate ones will achieve great master's skill levels. With this, a chapter will be over in their life. From here another chapter starts. That chapter concerns with how to expose those skills into the market. Again depends upon so many situations, very few can become successful. About these successful artists I am going to talk.

Once these artists get money and fame what they will do? They can lose interest in the work, once they start to get money and fame. With their skills they can do any work. No question of failure. Then what? Where is the excitement? Where is the learning? Once they reached this stage you won't find much change in their work. Is it not boring for them? With their extraordinary skills working those paintings, is it not monotonous to them? Definitely. Then what they will do? Usually there's nothing they can do. Galleries demand the same work from them. Because they have become a brand. Selling branded goods is easy for a seller.

Just think of this sad state! Most of the great artists, once they get success, are trapped in this sad state. Do you think they can still feel the same pleasure, what they experienced, during the time when they were achieving those great skills? No way! That's why becoming a great artist and becoming a great successful artist are different things. Becoming a brand, earning money, producing(not creating) same paintings ... is this the success those art students dreamed of?

Because of this I think, Leonardo Da Vinci did so many things other than painting. He was the master artist. He could do any painting. So where is the thrill? Without thrill what is the meaning to the creativity? Thats why he went for other fields. Thats why always with his inventions and search, he lived as an artist, not only through his works but in his mind also.

And another thing, becoming a good artist is a very tough thing. You need a lot of intelligence for that. When you are having a such intelligence, why you should limit yourself to only painting? Why don't you explore other areas? Earn money there more easily than through selling paintings. And do paint to understand more about your self. I think any true artist life has to go like this. I think this is Leonardo Da Vinci way. Like their paintings they should live their life as a whole. This whole is a completeness . Imagine.. if artists can make their life, like their paintings....that will be the 'art of life'.

Why don't we dream of that kind of life..? Living everyday, exploring ourselves...always opening new doors... I believe that is the way artist has to live. Other than this, if they do the same paintings through out their life, earning money, getting their photographs published, more than their work... if they think this is the successful artist's life.... !

Here I am revealing the greatest secret of great paintings

In my previous post I told you, about successful great artists. Now I am going to tell you about the artists who are having great skills but are not successful in their careers. Here I am going to tell you about their state of mind.

Already I told you art and life are one. You could not separate them like design and composition. If you don't achieve rhythm in painting, however perfect your design and composition may be, your work will be lifeless. Those unsuccessful artists who are having great skills and lost in the wilderness of the promoting their work are also lack this rhythm, not in their work, ... but in their lives. This rhythm of life is pleasing others with their ...no, not with their work – with their sweet words and a little bit of submissive behavior, at least at the beginning of their career. Patrons, who are willing to buy your paintings for different reasons, are interested in listening to some flattery about their artistic taste. So your paintings and your personal behavior both will create that rhythm for the buyer. If an artist is unable to give this rhythm to the buyer...How do you except he will buy your work, especially if you are not an artist with a brand? This is the main reason for the failure of most of the great skilled artists.

Most of these unsuccessful artists works are very powerful. Do you believe failure to sell their work , will make their paintings more powerful?
Don't come to conclusions that 'because of failure they have more burn in their inside, they show that burn in their work, that way they will take their revenge.' Most of the people in society think like this. What a laughable thing this is! Do you think the artist who has already become greatly skilled, will do the paintings with revenge stimulated by starving? Never. He will never do that. An artist who is trying to learn those great skills, can do the work with more intensity even while starving. But not an artist, who has already achieved great skills. Then why their paintings are that much powerful?

Here the great secret lies.
When the artist with great skills could not earn money for his reasonable requirements, he begins to lose interest in his work. A few questions will arise in his mind. 'What is the use of painting? People say your work is fantastic. You are a master. So what? What is the point, if with all the years of hard work, and successful creative ability, you are still not able to meet reasonable requirements to survive....? Questions...Questions...no answers. You have to sacrifice lot to become an artist, especially when you are not having financial support. You have to buy brushes, colors, canvases... everything is expensive. Added to these you have to fill your stomach. And in your learning stage selling paintings even for small amounts is very very difficult. Then imagine the suffering! Imagine...how much you have to suffer to become an artist?' Getting these questions in the mind, Subconsciously he begins to regret becoming an artist. He may not know it clearly, otherwise he may not be in a position to accept it consciously because of dedication of long years to work. So when he has to do a painting, for what ever money either it is small or reasonable, he is reluctant to work. But he has no option except to work. So he will do it. Because of his great skills he knows what to do to that particular work. It won't be a big issue for him. But he is not fully interested to work like before, when he was in learning stage. So he will try to finish it as quickly as possible with out any passion or love. Only with understanding.
He won't bother about appreciation, because he knows his work will be appreciated any way. Where is the wonder? All he needs is money to live. In this situation detachment is inevitable. Detachment will come to you with understanding.

But how the detachment will give success?
Here the secret of success lies. For example...When a reader reads a novel, enjoys till the end of it, after that if he feels the writer should have written some more pages, then that book is a great success. Because reader wants some more pages means, he wants that pleasure some more time. But when writer did not write them, the reader has no option to come back to the pages again to get that pleasure. (The people who are having reading habit know this experience.) That means he will repeatedly think about the novel. This way writer is giving a space to the reader to think about his work Then slowly the reader becomes involved with the writer's work. This 'involvement' is the key. Because of this involvement readers will try to understand not only the writer's work but also about the writer. This is the secret of success. The key is ' GIVING SPACE TO THE READER TO THINK.' Stimulating the reader's intelligence. Respecting his intelligence.

Same thing applies to paintings also.
Our unsuccessful artist tries to finish the painting quickly because of his detachment, he will leave some of the painting unfinished. But because of his great skills and understanding ability, it will have a finished look. But in reality it's not finished completely. The viewer enjoys the great skills of the artist and his work and yet he feels some things are left unfinished. Because of the pleasure he is getting from the painting he doesn't want to leave it, just like the reader who is addicted to the novel. So he will try to know those unfinished areas. That way he involves in the painting. This way artist is giving space to the viewer to enter into the painting. This way viewer's intelligence will be stimulated. His taste will be respected. Then the viewer began to admires the artist and his work. This is the secret of those unsuccessful artist's great successful paintings. Having great skills, feeling detachment and ability to understand the work, these are the secrets to their powerful paintings.

Whereas the successful artist tried to show always, what he is doing the best. So he may lose that unfinished feeling in his work, even though his paintings are also the best. Only thing is he is not giving an opportunity to the viewer to enter into his paintings. That way he is not respecting viewer's intelligence. So he loses.

Nature helps those people in different ways, who works hard . Some people get money and fame for a short period. For some it will be a place in the history.
This truth may surprise some, but it is the truth. It will appear to us in its true form if we try to understand or if we are able to experience it.
Writing this, Telling this, Personally now I am experiencing the feeling as if though I am doing a painting. I wish this could be my last painting.
